  • Register for a Teen Drivers Course or Adult Drivers Course, to earn a certificate for a Learner’s Permit.
  • Once you have received your certificate, make an appointment at the DPS office to apply for a Learner’s Permit.
  • After getting a permit, you may then begin the process of driving with our instructors.
  • If you are in the Teen Drivers Course, you will also be required to complete 30 hours of driving with a licensed adult of 21 or older.
  • Once all restrictions and paperwork has been completed, you may then register to make an appointment for a Road Test (See our prices)
  • Upon passing your road test, you will receive a Driver’s License Certificate.
  • Lastly, you must make an appointment at the DPS office to get your certificate processed, in order to receive an Official Driver’s License. 


  • Yes. Students must be at least 14 years 11 months old, before starting Drivers Education Course. Students may begin class at this age, but they will not be able to obtain a Learner's Permit, until they have turned at least 15 years old. 
  • Additionally, if a student would like to sign up for a Road Test, they must be at least 16 years old, with additional restrictions.  




  • At our Texas City location, we provide insured vehicles for our students during Behind-the-Wheel Lessons or Road Tests. Our vehicles are equipped with dual brakes, as well as inside/outside view cameras for the safety of our students, during their driving sessions.
  • If you are unable to get transportation to our location, we offer transportation services to our students. With prices starting at $5, give us a call for a quote today.

  • A road test is a driving test, that is offered to qualifying students. This test is used to determine a student’s road skills behind the wheel, to finalize the process of earning an official Drivers License. 
  • In order to register for a Road Test, students must first have a valid Learner’s Permit with other requirements. Call us for more information. 


  • The number of driving lessons you need to take before you can take your driving test depends on your individual abilities and experience. Our instructors will work with you to create a personalized training plan that meets your needs and helps you feel confident behind the wheel. Students may contact us to receive lessons in the car.
  • Please note that students who take a Teen Drivers Course at Island Driving School, are provided with 7 hours or driving and 7 hours of observation, included with their tuition.  


You will need to bring your non-expired valid Learner's permit, comfortable clothing and shoes, and any necessary vision correction devices (such as glasses or contact lenses). We will provide the vehicle for your driving lessons.


Prohibited Items, but not limited to:

  • open-toe shoes
  • hats
  • food/drinks


  • Schedule2Drive is an online appointment system, used for our Teen Drivers Course with a $10 fee to register. 
  • The Schedule2Drive appointment system allows students to select or cancel appointment times for Behind-the-Wheel Lessons, to schedule driving sessions with our instructors. 
  • This system allows our students to choose sessions that are flexible to their schedules. 


  • The "30 Hour Parent Log" is required for students who are enrolled in the 32-hour Driving Course. Students are required to practice drink at home with a licensed adult of 21 years or older. Note: Although students may practice for any duration at home, only 1 hour may be logged onto the ”30 hour Parent Log” sheet.
